I have a very down to earth and practical approach to hypnotherapy. I know it works; and if it worked for me it can work for you too. It is empowering to know that you can be in control of your life, your emotions and fears, even your physical health, simply by changing the way you think.
Well you shouldn't! There is plenty of hard evidence out there which proves just how effective hypnotherapy can be , for both physical and psychological complaints. Why not look up 'The Manchester Protocol' and see what it can do for IBS? Or read about Milton Erickson or Dave Elman and see how they made a difference to people's lives through hypnotherapy. Or read the blogs from https://hypnotc.com all of it based on facts.
I taught in schools and colleges for over thirty years and have witnessed over and over again the fear and distress experienced by many students facing tests and exams. Sometimes even going to school is a trial and one that can rarely be avoided . I feel passionate about letting those students know that there is something that can change those negative thoughts into positive actions ; and of course, those skills can be applied to any area of life.
It can sometimes feel as though we are stuck on one path in life. Hypnotherapy can promote constructive and helpful changes in the way you think and behave to allow you to be on the right path towards the goals you want to achieve.

For more information about hypnotherapy and research into this fascinating subject I would recommend the following which give just a taster of the huge amount of evidence for how effective hypnotherapy is.
Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness where thesubconscious mind is in a state of hyper-suggestibility. Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis to bring about therapeutic change.
I feel passionate about Hypnotherapy and hope to 'spread the word' about how very beneficial it can be . I am particularly interested in its application in EDUCATION , both as a means to promote better learning and also in dealing with exam and performance anxiety; even with improving teaching!
Hypnotherapy aims to put you in control of your emotions, fears and beliefs. It enables your unconscious mind to accept positive suggestions and to find and develop resources within yourself to improve your life.Hypnosis may be able to help you overcome fear or habits that are holding you back or help you be more motivated and focused to improve performance at work ,in sports or life in general.
''What hypnosis does best is amplify people's abilities, including their hidden abilities such as the capacity to reduce the subjective experience of pain or the capacity to better adapt to a change in their circumstances. Hypnosis empowers people to discover and develop strengths in themselves they didn't know they had, and the consequences in people's lives are often nothing short of extraordinary'' (''Trancework'' Michael D. Yapko 4th edition 2012)
Are you anxious or stressed? Well have you ever noticed that the anagram of stress is rests? (What’s an extra ‘s’ among friends?); but rest and relaxation is part of the answer to being well, both mentally and physically.
When a doctor say ’It’s stress’ a person can feel made to feel like a hypochondriac or weak. But the doctor is probably right. She isn’t saying that that is the only thing but stress can certainly be a contributory factor. Stress is a part of life and needs to be managed in order to be healthy and happy; it affects everyone differently but too much stress can cause serious health issues.
The Fight or Flight mechanism in our bodies is there for a reason; it helps keep us safe and avoid dangers . Animals have this too and is what helps keep them alive. When we are stressed our bodies are in a heightened state, with adrenaline being pumped around our bodies. The heart rate increases, muscles tighten and breathing becomes more rapid. This is all fine while the perceived threat is there, but when it has gone the body should return to normal. Some stress is fine, but to be in a continual state of stress will make you ill.
Over time, these physiological demands can take a toll on your body. So the doctor is right: stress is causing you to be ill.
Your body needs to have rest; taken out of the constant ''fight or flight'' condition in which many of us find ourselves almost constantly, It needs to be able to relax into a natural, resting state whenever you want it to; and that is where hypnotherapy may be able to help.
You can learn to relax ; to slow your breathing and pulse right down; to relax tense muscles. Once in a state of deep relaxation your subconscious mind may be accessed more easily. The subconscious mind is the uncritical part of your mind and so is the place to bring about therapeutic change. Physically, the hypnotic state may help with insomnia and the pain caused by tense muscles; psychologically, hypnotherapy may help you to develop strategies for dealing with life’s pressures; to prevent you becoming overloaded by stress again and help you put yourself back in control .
The first session, includes an indepth consultation to enable me to tailor treatments to your individual goals. This session also includes a free self-hypnosis mp3 to allow you to start to practise your newly learnt skills regularly.
60-75 minutes duration
Hypnotherapy is not long-winded like many other 'talking therapies'. Frequently you may need as few as three sessions to bring about real and lasting change; you will probably notice a positive effect after only one. However, do remember that it is not magic and the more you invest in the process, the greater the success!
Hypnotherapy is all about giving control back to you.
50-60 minutes duration.
The price of the stop smoking sessions are determined after consultation with you ; it all depends on what is motivating you to stop. However, be sure that whatever the price is, it will be cheaper than carrying on smoking!
The session is two hours . Usually this is all you will need. Sometimes the process throws up other, maybe not even acknowledged areas which may need further sessions to work through ( priced as 'subsequent' sessions)
I offer one to one tuition in GCSE English and History; Functional Skills English and Maths and Key Stage One and Key Stage Two subjects, including preparation for SATs. Tuition can be done online or in the student's home. It is also possible for students to have a lesson at The Metta Centre, St Ives.
1) Will I lose consciousness or go to sleep?
Hypnosis was named after the Greek god of sleep, Hypnos, but in an hypnotic trance you are not asleep. You will be fully aware at all times and able to stop the process should you wish to...but that's unlikely as you will be feeling so relaxed and comfortable.
2) Will I be made to do or say something embarrassing ?
Hypnosis is all about enabling you to do what you want to do. You cannot be made to do anything against your will or goes against your personal moral code. This includes being hypnotised. If you don't want to be hypnotised, you won't be hypnotised.
3) Can I 'get stuck' in trance?
No. You are in control at all times.
4) Is it only weak-willed people who can be hypnotised?
Actually, because hypnosis requires concentration and imagination, the best subjects are the more intelligent ones.
